ABOUT CHLOE

I am an embroider with keen interest in alternative embellishments and sustainable design. My work predominantly combines embroidery, surface pattern techniques such as screen printing and natural dyeing. I enjoy the multidisplinary freedom of designing both the embellishment and the substraight used to stitch upon.

Primary research is often my starting point for designing,
gaining information from exhibitions and museums. Using analogue photography I can capture snapshots of inspiration from all over the world. I favour film over digital photography because it is a more intimate technique. I like the unpredictability of exposing and developing the film, you never know what you may get.

Similarly, I prefer hand embroidery opposed to digital, because I enjoy the control, figuring where each stitch will go, making changes through the design process to incorporate beading where possible.
